What Is Acroyoga And Should You Try It?
Find balance with a yoga/acrobatics hybrid. (wellwellwell.com)
Acroyoga is an unorthodox form of the ancient Indian practice that’s poised to take yoga studios by storm. Blending aspects of acrobatics and yoga, the practice is about building trust, and consists of an intimate, challenging workout that’s sure to get your heart racing.
“Acroyoga is a combination of yoga, acrobatics, Thai massage and the creative process,” says Grant Shipman, founder of Yogabatics, which claims to be the first dedicated Acroyoga studio in the United States. “My favorite way to describe Acroyoga is to say it’s like break-dancing on someone’s feet.”

You can start Acroyoga at any level, the first step is to just get started and have fun. We feel that as a couple any workout that you can do together will bond your relationship stronger. In the beginning, Acroyoga is just a fun activity that requires practice. You’re going to fail, but that’s part of the fun.
We continue to try and find new techniques and poses that can take us to another level. Start by improving your balance and work up from there. If you’re photo junkies like us, document your journey so you can look back and see your progress and far you’ve come. Either way, a little touching was never bad for a relationship.

We are still beginners and maybe we always will be, but it doesn’t stop us from having a fun time. We tumble and fall quite a bit, but the journey is most of the joy. Seek out all the resources you can and find some inspiration to start trying. We watched videos and followed some Instagrammers to find our jam.
It doesn’t take long before you’re seeking out that next pose and move. We never thought that Acroyoga would be for us, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much we have enjoyed it.
