In Search Of The Best Breakfast In Atlanta

Atlanta is a great town, but in order to explore you’ll need to start off right with that “most important meal of the day.” Of if you need something to “soak up the poison” from your previous nightly activities, this list will also serve you well.

The Silver Skillet

One of our favorites. We recommend the Southern Breakfast: Two battered and fried pork chops, two eggs, grits, gravy, and a biscuit. Many a movie has been filmed at the Silver Skillet. This is a true Atlanta legend.

R. Thomas

R. Thomas Deluxe Grill

We’ve been frequenting R. Thomas Grill since the 90s. You’ll enjoy their notoriously healthy 24-hour breakfast. This joint, and it is a true Buckhead joint, offers free-range chicken omelettes with organic eggs, a great corn chowder “breakfast stew” with quinoa, dulse, and shredded nori, or just try the sundried tomato breakfast quesadilla.

Atlanta Breakfast Club

The Atlanta Breakfast Club downtown has been drawing big crowds since opening its doors in 2016. Comfort dishes of chicken and waffles, peach cobbler French toast, and breakfast tacos with smoked bacon and scrambled eggs are some of the best offerings. Prices hover just under $10, which makes a morning meal here that much better.

The Majestic Diner

The Majestic has been serving up food since 1929. Parking is limited but the experience is worth it. Everything is good here but we usually get the pancakes. Sitting at the counter can be half the fun as people watching is very enjoyable here.

Babs Midtown

A longtime breakfast and brunch staple in the Midtown neighborhood, head to Bab’s for a smoked salmon bagel, the Juniper wrap stuffed with scrambled eggs, tomato, onion, turkey sausage, cheese, and onions, or a hearty omelette in the morning. Follow on Facebook for menu updates and other news.

West Egg Cafe

West Egg Cafe has been serving Atlantans for more than a decade. Try the sour cream pancakes with syrup and spiced honey butter or the simple comfort of the blue plate (two eggs, biscuit, choice of breakfast meat, and roasted garlic grits or skillet potatoes). Reservations on weekends.
